Glory- Poetry Contest
Fifty times whipped,
a command from the Cap'n
Fifty times whipped
you could hear the leather snappin
But the scars on his back keep him from breaking,
Scars on his back keep tears from falling
Fifty times whipped,
though it's not his first time
Fifty times whipped
And his teeth start to grind
But the scars on his back keep him from breaking,
Scars on his back keep tears from falling
Fifty times whipped,
instead of being killed
Fifty times whipped,
Just for a meal
But the scars on his back keep him from breaking,
Scars on his back keep tears from falling
Fifty times whipped
for shoes on his feet
Fity times whipped,
'til it more than bleeds
But the scars on his back keep him from breaking,
Scars on his back keep tears from falling
Fifty times whipped,
because he's a colored
Fifty times whipped
he just had to suffer
But the scars on his back keep him from breaking,
Scars on his back keep tears from falling
Fifty times whipped but he isn't a slave
Fifty times whipped
to fight this war, his freedom they gave
But the scars on his back keep him from breaking,
Scars on his back keep tears from falling

Re: Glory- Poetry Contest
the refrain of the poem keeps on giving stress on the strengh of the poem n it is really the actual picturization of someone under such kind of cruelty.
