Throughout the country pets are frequently nabbed for "bait" - animals used to test another dog's fighting instinct. The "bait" is mauled or killed in the process. Ring leaders arranged dog fights, bet on the fights and mistreated animals that were not sufficiently ferocious. The fights continued until one dog was killed or gave up. Dogs that lost fights were put to death by drowning, hanging, gunshot, electrocution or being slammed to the ground.
3,396 animals have been reported missing within six months in 2004 and about 50 percent may have been stolen. The same statistics continues today and stolen pets have appeared in California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, and Texas, among other states.
If you can speak directly to those people who arranged those fights, what would you say to them?
