About Us
We build bears for children at a local Ronald McDonald House, and host a halloween party.
Our team, Build a Bear to Show You Care, started out as a Roots and Shoots group in November 2006. Roots and Shoots is a community service program started by Jane, in which you help the environment, animals, and the human community. We applied for a grant from Youth Venture in December, and were ecstatic to find out we had gotten it in February. Build a Bear to Show you care is our community program. We are delivering Build a Bears to our local Ronald McDonald House, along with hosting a Halloween Party, and making a holiday donation. For Build-a-Bear to Show you Care, we will be purchasing several Build-a-Bears at Build-A-Bear Workshop and then will deliver the bears to a local Ronald McDonald House. We plan to visit with the kids. Build-a-Bear to Show you Care plans to show the community how many hardships these kids face. These kids and their families are spending a lot of their time in hospitals.
Ronald McDonald House tries to make “a home away from home,” and we feel that the community overlooks giving to these kids and their families because they live at the house, are fed by the house, and the house provides dental and medical insurance. The community sees no need to do anything for them. They do feel bad for the children and wish they weren’t going through that, but they don’t see what they can do. Build-a-Bear to Show you Care wants to show the community what they can do. By donating bears for the children, we hope that the community will notice what a difference they can make.
Many of us think the worst sickness we got was a stomach bug, or the flu. When we are sick, we complain how it is so annoying to be doing nothing and that something hurts. We don’t really think how it would be to be sick all the time. These kids spend all of their time outside the hospital, still very sick. Sadly, most of them will never get better. The bears that we purchase and deliver hopefully will help the kids through difficult treatments and when they are lonely, they will have a friend to talk to. Our venture team wants to participate in this project because we want to make up for the happiness that the sick children miss while they are sick. The families of these kids need to focus on the kids and don’t have any extra money to go spend on a gift. The main function and purpose of this venture is to show the children that people do care about them and to make their days a little brighter.
Our Group is pretty new, but have a lot of good ideas, so if you need some advice feel free to contact us.
