The Best Buy Children's Foundation has teamed up with Youth Venture to bring you the Best Buy @15™ Challenge. @15™ is a new social change program to ensure opportunities for teens across four dimensions: education, life skills, leadership and relationships. Youth Venture and Best Buy are working together to empower teens and give them the opportunity to lead change in the world.

15 teams from across the country will win $10,000 each to expand their Ventures and improve their communities! In addition, the Best Buy @15™ Challenge will provide $1,000 of seed funding for up to 300 new youth-led Venture Teams.

Voting for August's "GenV.net's create the Ultimate Changemaker contest!" starts now, August18th, and ends September 1 !

Your Ultimate Changemaker

While Batman is busy protecting Gotham City from evil forces, he leaves the rest of the world vulnerable to injustices and wrong doing! Does your community need a superhero to bring an end to evil forces?!? Now is your chance to create your very own Youth Venture Superhero!

Describe what your YV superhero would look like and what superhuman powers they would have. Explain what evil forces your hero would fight and your hero’s motivations for helping your community. Don’t forget to give your superhero a catchy name!

Be creative! Let your imagination run wild while creating the ultimate changemaker!

Here is how it works:

1. Create a blog about your superhero from your GenV.net profile
2. Send YV_Katie a private message with a link to your blog by Monday, August 18 to enter.
3. GenV.net members will vote for the most creative superhero. Voting will begin on August 18 and end on September 1.
4. The winner gets a $50 VISA card!!

Voting for June’s “Caught in the Act: Random Acts of Kindness" photo contest begins today, June 18, and ends June 30th!

In January, we asked GenV.net members to capture in a picture a change they'd like to see in 2008. We're already well in 2008, so this contest asked members to capture in a picture a random act of kindness or a difference that is being made or has been made. The simplest act can make a difference. So view the pictures and read the description below, then cast your vote for what you believe reflects a significant act of kindness by using the poll at the bottom of the page.
