WELCOME TO JESSIE'S VENTURE SITE!

Hello, I am Jessie ! I am an environmentalist who helped launch the venture Green Teens with my two friends. Green Teens has grown to have over 12 members, and a few more that come to some meetings and/or events. We have accomplished so much in our town, and only hope to accomplish more! I also like to dance pointe and ballet and love them- they let me express myself, and use up some energy after a long day at school. I love to dance ballet, pointe, and hip-hop-- though I would love to explore ballroom styles as well. I am involved with the Student Peace Alliance, Humane Society, and many other clubs at my school, like student office and student congress! Nice to meet you!

Hey, long posts are good!! I love your website! It's very cool. I think that as you do more projects you'll find more things to add to your website. The CAC website--http://laclimateaction.webs.com--started out really bland...nothing like yours!! But as we've done more things, I found different way to incorporate them into the website. Your venture sounds really interesting!! Well, when we talked to the merchants, we discussed different options that they would be willing to take. For example, we talked about the idea of a town canvas bag with a town logo or something like that. So far we haven't encountered any issues with implementing taxes or banning plastic bags. I think it's just the will of the merchants and their association. At least that's our experience so far. Connecticut isn't that far from Maine!! Actually, my uncle lives in Hartford. We should definitely become unofficial 'partners' in some way.

I love the name of your group as well!! I also think that your projects are really interesting. We should collaborate on this Paper Vs. plastic campaign. I agree with you that it should be nationwide. I think we could make a real difference together. :)

Hi Jessie!! I'm so glad that you find my profile...I have not met a lot of young environmentalists who are working on projects similar to the Climate Action Club's! Our Paper Vs. Plastic Campaign is a work in progress at the moment. We have actually just a video to help us with our campaign. Go to YouTube and type in FIRST HERE, THEN EVERYWHERE, and it should be the first video. Tell me what you think about it!! So far, we have only had one meeting with the local merchants. We are focusing on promoting canvas bags and either eliminating or putting a tax on plastic bags. We were also thinking of maybe creating a town bag with the stores' logo on it. Then maybe customers who used those bags could get a discount and participating business. We have a bunch of ideas of how to get the ball rolling, so to speak. Tell me more about your efforts!! So, where is Willington??
