Bio
Hi guys -
My name is Jenny and I am the lead venturer for JJ Express Magazine which was started by my brother and I. We both love the arts - he's the illustrator and I'm the writer. Our magazine is geared towards children ages 10-15 years old. Our goals are two-fold: first, we are alarmed by the rising epidemic of depression in teenagers today. The rise is prevalent not only in statistics but at my school as well. I have friends who cut themselves, are anoxerix, or have been diagnosed with clinical depression. We believe that art (and especially comics...which is what our magazine revolves around) is therapeutic and will help show youth the positive side of the world. Our second goal is to provide a forum for youth. We encourage youth to submit artwork and writing to our magazine and give them a chance to be published alongside professionals. With every submission from youth - whether we accept it or not - we give youth feedback regarding not only their art, but also on the publications process. Let me know if you want a copy! The next issue is coming out in two weeks - it will focus solely on the environment.
I'm going to Colby College this fall and I'm really excited!!!
